If you read this, prayers needed PLEASE

I don't have much time to post, so I'm going to make this brief. I'm sorry to have been away from my friends for so long, and my NS100 friends might be wondering what happened to me.

My dad was checked into the emergency room on Wednesday, and from there he was admitted. He was in kidney failure with an infection but they didn't know where the infection was. Well, now we know. Some of you know that I started the NS program in July because my father had his 2nd open heart surgery in July and I was so afraid that would be me in the future. They did a replacement on his aortic valve and one bypass at that time. Now, they have found the source of the infection and it is his heart. It's a staph infection. Normally it's not a very aggressive strain but it has a good hold on him. It is affecting the aortic, tricuspid and mitral valves of the heart. I'm not sure I spelled them correctly, but I'm hearing the words, and haven't had the time to look into it much. They are going to have to do open heart again on Tuesday and it's extremely risky. We've been with him much of the day, but today they moved him to a cardiac ICU unit where we can only see him for 30 minutes 3 times a day. His spirits are very low and he doesn't believe he's going to live through this. I'm maintaining a positive outlook, but realistically it's only 50/50 for him this time. I believe that's accurate and the surgeon wasn't sugar coating it because he broke down why he took off which percentages, I don't remember what they are but a certain percent down because it's so close to the last surgery, another because it's the 3rd surgery which they rarely even perform, more because it's infected, etc.

My nephew had pneumonia and my poor brother had to make the decision of where to be, and he's down here with us. I wouldn't want to have to be the one to make that decision, it must have been hard on him. Back where he lives in NJ, his wife has had the sick child, and their washer broke and the refrigerator too and he only got here yesterday.

Last night, while leaving the hospital I was crossing an intersection and a driver ran the red light and smashed into the passenger side of my vehicle, where my sister was sitting. I feel terrible because I asked her to ride with me to keep me company. We're both physically okay with the exception of some bumps and bruises. The other driver says I ran the red light, but because the other cars which were stopped at the light in her direction didn't stop to wait for the cops and give a statement, we don't have any witnesses. My car was totalled and I can't afford a new one, and I'm sure the insurance will pay, but not enough for a new car......and really at this point I can't even waste time thinking about it. To say I had a mental breakdown when I got home last night is an understatement. I can't even independently get to the hospital anymore.

Anyway, please keep my Dad in your prayers because he needs them desperately.

Ah honey! I am so saddened to hear about your dad and his failing health. I will definitely have him and the entire family in my thoughts and prayers. I can certainly feel for your brother having to make the decision he did. I hope your nephew recovers quickly.

I'm sorry to hear your car is totaled. I can't believe the woman didn't stay. That's horrible. Maybe she didn't have insurance. Did anyone think to get a license tag? Paul's right. Check with your insurance to see if you can get a rental in the meantime.

    Hang in there, sweetie.
