Had a 100% day

It sure has been tough to get back on track, but I decided I was never going to do this if I went for "90%" because I have enough trouble losing at 100%. So I did it yesterday, I had 1 day at 100%, now I'll try to repeat the process again today. I have a plan and everything, the trick is to just stay with it.

I got back into the pedometer challenge too, and I fell just a little short yesterday. I was only at 4718. I had planned on walking some yesterday but I spent an hour in the car taking my sister to pick up her car, so that left me with nothing in the way of extra time. It's just what families do. I can make that up pretty easy anyway.

We watched a bunch of movies over the weekend. We watched The Forgotten, White Noise, The Ring 2, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. My mom is big on the scary movies. On my own I watched Gangs of New York and Runaway Jury. When I watch movies myself though, I don't get to pay as much attention as I'd like. I'm usually washing dishes or folding laundry or something around the house while I watch, so it's better to hang out at mom's to watch movies, lol.

I have contacted the nutritionist and the counselors at NS to find out about if there's a list of products including soy, and neither has gotten back to me yet. I wonder if eliminating soy will make a difference for me. I know a lot of the things I "add in" have soy too, like chocolate soy milk and soy chips. It will make dieting much more difficult if I have to avoid the NS foods, and lots of the extras I like. Even a lot of the South Beach items I like have soy in them, like the cereal bars. I can't give up though and I will find a way to work this out. I need to see results before I totally throw in the towel.

Anyway, I'm off to work on my 100% Wednesday. I was thinking of using a whole wheat fig newton for a carb and having that when the kids have snack at church tonight. It's a few calories over though, maybe I should have 1/2. I'll figure it out so that tomorrow I can report my next 100 % day!

***Update: Here's a little rant....I was so sure Nabisco finally got it right with those whole grain fig newton bars....WRONG! It starts off so good with the whole grain wheat flour, but if you read on, it has sugar, corn syrup, and high fructose corn syrup. It's so close to being healthy with the 3g of fiber, but the 15 g of sugar is so disheartening. I would think they could do better than that!

Congratulations on your 100% day, Valerie. That's awesome and I know how hard it is. One day at a time, honey. You're doing it. Now just keep going.

Thanks, once I made up my mind it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I'm using more of my own foods because I'm stretching out the NS ones until I find out about the soy. It's much easier to eat what's in the box than to have to figure it out for myself.

Hope-Thanks again for sending me the info you had. I still haven't heard back from either Mary or the counselors after a few days.

Paul-I just asked for a list of which ones include soy. Since Mary is a nutritionist and I'm not clear what, if any, background the counselors have, I didn't figure they'd be the ones to ask about the thyroid/soy connection. It looks like there are other foods to avoid as well. Once I get my info together, I'm going to either give it a trial run, or ask my doctor, or both.
